3 common HP printer problems resolved Paper Jams, Ghosting, Printer driver issues
Hewlett-Packard or HP
(as we know it) is one of the top manufacturers of computers and related
accessories. They are well known for their reliability to produce quality
products. But even these products sometimes show signs of problem that needs a
helping hand from time to time. This article will show you some solutions that
you can use while troubleshooting your HP printer.
1.
Paper Jams
One of the most common
problems that users face irrespective of the make of the printer is paper jam.
Now, there are a number of reasons for this problem to show up from the printer
being dirty to wrong type of paper being used or the rollers on the printer
that feed the paper through its way being worn down.
While the most common
type of fixes include cleaning the printer periodically and using the right
type of paper for the specified printer, roller replacement can be challenging
depending upon the build of your HP machine.
Some
models come with easily accessible spare parts, but for others you will need to
completely open up your printer to remove the rollers. Irrespective of the
reason for the failure, you have to be cautious while removing a paper jam. Try
to always pull out the paper in the direction of the paper path as going for
the reverse can severely damage your printer.
For printers that hold
the paper vertically and then force it down during the printing process end up
having paper jam problems. While these models aren’t intended for heavy usage,
some organizations still make use them for commercial purposes.
In addition to the
older versions, some newer ones like HP 4000 series printer’s paper pickup
rollers show problem which is surprising as these machines were not supposed to
have any trouble with the rollers.
2.
Ghosting
Ghosting refers to a
situation where the image comes out properly, but another much lighter version
of the image gets printed somewhere else. One probable reason for this can be a
problem with the power outlet that supplies power to the printer. Check your
power plug with some other printer to see if the problem persists.
Another reason for such
problem can be the wearing and tearing of movable parts like drum or imaging
kit. All the moving parts of a printer come with an expiry date and once they
run out of use, you need to replace them.
3.
Printer driver issues
Every operating system
comes with its own set of drivers and new drivers are required to be loaded if
you change the operating system. Not all printers come up with a driver for
every OS. In such cases, you can use the user manual to identify what drivers
the printer will emulate. Although, you will not be able to access all the
functionalities but the basic ones will be there. Most HP printer can run with
HP Laser Jet II driver with some functions not working.
